Our Team

The People Who Care at One Care

One of the strengths of One Care Services is the ability to source, select and match the right staff to the people we support. We accomplish this through our comprehensive recruitment process, initial induction, and ongoing employee development.

The Grandparent Test

Each member of our care team has been carefully chosen because we believe they can help support our clients to reach their goals. Each staffer has been through the “grandparent test”. Would I let this support worker look after my family member? We encourage all members of our team to build connections with the individuals we support. Trust is a byword at One Care Support Services, and it flows up and down in the organisation, and out to those whom we support.

Experience

Our site managers have worked their way up through the company from carers, so they understand how people wish to be cared for.

The managers are professionally certified, with years of experience in all aspects of disability care, and all are undertaking continuous education to ensure they are up to date with the current practice standards.

Interview Process

We conduct a face-to-face interview during which we ask scenario-based questions, questions relating to skill, theory-based questions and questions aimed at ensuring the carer is of good character.

References

We initiate contact with our prospective team member’s previous employers to ensure they are reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and of good character.

Standardised Training

All our carers develop their skills through the same program of accredited learning, so you will always receive the same high level of care from us regardless of your location. Our team is diverse and multi-skilled. Each staff member has a minimum Certificate III qualification and above. They also have many years’ experience working in the field of disability.

We train them well to meet our high standards. We provide intensive staff training and a mentoring program such that our employees often go above and beyond what is expected. It has been known for a staff member to visit one of our residents in hospital on a weekend, outside working hours. This is not an isolated example of the deep care our team members have for our residents. We are keen to employ the next generation of carers too. We have created a student experience program for those interested in pursuing this as a career option. We have purposely established a working relationship with one school only and we limit our intake of students to two per year.

Experienced Managers

Our local managers have worked their way up through the company from carers, so they understand how people wish to be cared for. All have access to qualified nursing and medical services. They are certified practitioners with either Certificate III or IV in Aged and Disability Care, with additional qualifications in Medication Management and Manual Handling, Senior First Aid and Mental Health First Aid.
